Pancha Pakshi

The five birds

In the Pancha Pakshi Shastra of the Tamil Siddhas everyone has one of five birds: Vulture, Owl, Crow, Cock or Peacock. It follows from the birth star and from whether the Moon was waxing or waning at birth.

Through each day and night a bird passes through five activities: it rules, eats, walks, sleeps and dies. Times when your bird rules or eats are held to be favourable for starting things; times when it sleeps or dies are not. Enter the birth details and the day you want to look at.
